About Warp & Weft
A small studio for handwoven floors
We started with a single kilim brought back from a weaving village and a stubborn belief that the rug underfoot should be honest, hand-made, and good enough to outlive the room it was bought for.
Our story
Warp & Weft began with one kilim rolled up in a suitcase and a market stall in Seongsu-dong in the spring of 2021. We had a handful of flatwoven rugs from a family of weavers, a folding table, and no real plan beyond sharing floor pieces we genuinely loved. By the end of that first weekend the rugs were gone, and we realised other people were looking for the same thing we were — pieces knotted slowly, by hand, by people who cared.
Every rug we carry is sourced the same way today. We work directly with a small circle of weavers — a kilim workshop in Anatolia, a wool-knotting family in the highlands, and a jute and cotton studio outside Seoul — and we visit their looms before anything reaches the shelf. We favour hand-spun yarn and natural, plant-based dyes, and if we wouldn't lay a rug in our own home for a decade, it doesn't make the cut.
We believe in buying less and choosing well. A single good rug you feel underfoot every morning is worth more than a room full of things you never quite loved. That is the quiet idea behind the whole collection, and it's the invitation we extend to you: furnish a home slowly, one honest, handwoven piece at a time.
What we stand for
Three things we won't compromise on
Natural fibers, natural dyes
Hand-spun wool, jute, and cotton coloured with plant-based dyes, rolled in paper rather than plastic. We'd rather sell you one rug that lasts a generation than ten that shed and fade in a season.
Made to be walked on
Nothing here is too precious for real life. These are rugs for lived-in homes — for bare feet, for muddy paws, for kids on the floor and dinners that run long.
